For up to 10 months, you’ll serve shoulder-to-shoulder with nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to tackle real challenges and open new doors for Birmingham residents. Program Overview
Members will serve full-time (40 hours per week) at a local Birmingham nonprofit, school, or community organization.
Application Open: September 5th, 2025-September 26th, 2025
Info Session: October 3, 2025 (required for all applicants)
Member Training: Begins late October 2025 (mandatory for selected members)
Service Term: November 3, 2025 – September 11, 2026

To participate, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Have a high school diploma or GED
Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
Pass a National Service Criminal History Check
Be able to commit to a full-time service schedule (approximately 40 hours per week).
Commit to serve November 3, 2025 – September 11, 2026
Attend the mandatory in-person info session on October 3, 2025 (11 AM – 12 PM at Innovation Depot)

Every AmeriCorps member will play a critical role in supporting local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations. That will look different at each host site, but examples of the type of work members do include:
Helping nonprofits expand their reach and improve operations
Coordinating community programs in workforce development, education, health, and more
Supporting career training, childhood education, youth programming, and wraparound services for residents

As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll receive:
A living stipend of $1,332 every two weeks (before taxes)
Professional development and coaching to advance your career
Skill development in key industries like education, workforce development, and health
An Education Award (after successful completion of full service term and required hours) for tuition or student loans
