Saxton succeeds Founding Executive Director Yamini Bhat, whose leadership established Birmingham Corps as a trusted workforce intermediary in the city. The transition marks a significant milestone as the organization enters its next phase of growth and long-term community impact.

“What energizes me most is the opportunity to connect Birmingham’s deep sense of purpose with real pathways for people to live, work, and lead here,” said Saxton.

A native of Pinson, Alabama, just north of Birmingham, Saxton is the descendant of coal miners and steel workers who migrated to the Magic City during its industrial boom. Her lived experience and family history deeply inform her commitment to place-based impact, economic mobility, and community-rooted leadership.
