Birmingham Corps Announces Tiffani Saxton as Executive Director, Ushering in a New Chapter of Growth and Community Impact
January 20, 2026
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - Birmingham Corps, a workforce development nonprofit dedicated to connecting Birmingham residents to meaningful career pathways through service, leadership development, and cross-sector collaboration, proudly announces the appointment of Tiffani Saxton as its new Executive Director.
Saxton succeeds Founding Executive Director Yamini Bhat, whose leadership established Birmingham Corps as a trusted workforce intermediary in the city. The transition marks a significant milestone as the organization enters its next phase of growth and long-term community impact.
“What energizes me most is the opportunity to connect Birmingham’s deep sense of purpose with real pathways for people to live, work, and lead here,” said Saxton. “Birmingham Corps sits at a powerful intersection where service meets workforce development and civic leadership, and I’m excited to build on that foundation in ways that strengthen the city while investing in the people who choose to serve it.”
Most recently, Saxton served as Vice President at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI), where she oversaw development, strategy, engagement, and visitor experiences during a pivotal period of organizational transition. In that role, she led fundraising and program efforts, revitalized philanthropic and partner relationships, and strengthened public engagement strategies helping translate Birmingham’s civil rights legacy into a living, contemporary civic and cultural force.
A native of Pinson, Alabama, just north of Birmingham, Saxton is the descendant of coal miners and steel workers who migrated to the Magic City during its industrial boom. Her lived experience and family history deeply inform her commitment to place-based impact, economic mobility, and community-rooted leadership.
“Tiffani is exactly the right leader for Birmingham Corps at this moment,” said Bhat. “She brings a powerful blend of strategic vision, lived experience, and deep community roots. I couldn’t be more proud to pass the baton to someone who understands the heartbeat of this city and is deeply committed to expanding opportunity for its residents.”

Birmingham Corps looks forward to this next chapter under Saxton’s leadership and remains committed to building pathways to opportunity, purpose, and belonging for residents across Birmingham.
